This is a listing of common abbreviations often found when working with children with disabilities. The initial listing was prepared by staff of the Lexington Abuse and Disability Program for a special issue devoted to sexual abuse and disabilities, which appeared in November/December, 1992 News, a bimonthly publication by the National Resource Center on Child Sexual Abuse (NRCCSA) of the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect, operated under the National Children’s Advocacy Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The listing has been updated to include additional jargon and issues reflective of the content contained in this website.
